Pasta Time

Image
A classic staple point in many college students diet is a great pasta dish. Pasta is a great meal that is relatively easy to make and delicious to eat. It's also something that is a decently cheap meal to make, but is expensive to eat at restaurants. Any time I want pasta, I don't think about going to Olive Garden and spending $20 on a pasta plate. I don't even want to spend $15 on it at a place like Baris. When I want pasta, I now know that I can create a great dish at home.     The great thing about pasta is you can create a multitude of dishes with many of the same ingredients. You can add chicken, beef, or shrimp to your pasta, or change it up with any new or unique sauce. You can also create new textures and flavors by buying different kinds of noodles. Here's a website that lists noodles and what they are best used for:  Pasta Noodles . For my pasta recipe that I made this week, I used the following ingredients: Penne pasta noodles Chicken Breas...

Margarita Grilled Chicken

Image
One of my favorite meals at a restaurant is the Margarita Grilled Chicken from Chili's. It has such a great flavor and is a filling meal. When I decided to make a Margarita Grilled Chicken myself, I was pleasantly surprised by how easy it is to make.      The great thing about Margarita Grilled Chicken is you can make it into anything you want. You can cut it up and put it in a bowl, make some tacos with it, create nacho's or eat it over some rice and beans. A great  Margarita Grilled Chicken recipe can be found here:  Margarita Grilled Chicken     The ingredients I used for my meal were: chicken breasts non-alcoholic margarita mix cilantro rice black beans guacamole  salsa shredded Mexicans cheese shredded lettuce garlic salt gallon sized Ziploc bags     The first thing to do for this recipe is to marinate the chicken breast in the gallon Ziploc bag with the margarita mix and garlic salt. Let the chic...

Quick Breakfast Solution

While cooking in college, it can be easy to only focus on dinner and ignore cooking any other meals. Another thing that's easy to do in college is to oversleep and be running out the door in the mornings. I know for me when that happens, the last thing I think about is breakfast, until about halfway through my class when my stomach is rumbling.      Breakfast can be a very easy thing to make in college, and its a meal people either skip or believe to be the most important meal of the day. A great and quick breakfast I always go to in college is Avocado Toast. Avocado Toast is super easy to make and is a delicious and filling way to begin your day.  The ingredients I use for my Avocado Toast are: Avocado's Bread (Toasted) HEB Pre-cooked Bacon Red Pepper Flakes Lime Juice     As you can see from these ingredients, the meal is really quite simple. You start by peeling and cutting up your Avocado's. When at the store, you can buy avoca...

Thank Goodness its Finally Taco Tuesday

Image
Taco's are a staple of many people's college diet. Arguments still arise amongst the Baylor community on whether Fuzzies, Torchies, Fuego, or any other taco truck has the best taco's to offer. While I wont weigh into that conversation today, something I think we can all agree on is that those restaurants really are not that cheap. The meal for this week is a cheap alternative to going out for tacos, and is extremely easy to prepare.      One thing that's great about tacos, is that you can make them however you want them to be. In the past I've done traditional taco meat, using HEB taco seasoning on ground beef. You can also make breakfast taco's or brisket taco's. Really anything you would order at a restaurant you can make in a cheaper fashion at home.  This time I used the premade HEB chicken for the tacos. The shredded chicken, found here:  HEB Shredded Chicken , is a great meat to use for taco's because it's already pre co...
