Busy Week? Here's some Suggestions.

Image
We all have those weeks in our lives where we have, countless meetings, assignments, and social events, well at least that's how my week was. When weeks like this happen, I know the last thing I want to do is cook. That's why in really busy weeks, HEB pre-made meals are a great place to go.       HEB has a great selection of choices with food categories such as: Italian, Mexican, Traditional, Asian, and so much more. Another thing I enjoy about the HEB pre made meals is that they have the nutrition information and heating instructions clearly displayed. I will say one drawback of the nutritional information is that it can be on a per serving basis, and sometimes there are multiple servings per container. This has gotten me a couple times with things like Mac & Cheese. Considering that, the nutrition guides help you even at the store in planning on what your going to create. Mini Pizza's: Low Carb and Delicious

Image
This week in the world of college cooking, we have a classic college meal. Pizza is obviously a staple point of many college diets. From buying a large Papa John's pizza for under $10, buying a Red Barron frozen pizza, or going to Shorty's Pizza Shack and getting cheap slices, pizza is a food many college students turn to for a cheap filling dinner.      As previously mentioned in my other posts, carbs can create an issue for me being a Type 1 Diabetic. Take for example cauliflower crust, a lower carb alternative to normal pizza dough. Now I know what your thinking, that sounds disgusting. When I first heard about cauliflower crust I agreed, but after trying it I've grown to e...

Cheap and Easy College Meal: Chicken Rice Veggie bowl.

Cooking in college can be a struggle for many people, especially for guys. Having mountains of homework to finish, intramural games to play in, and other social events to attend, can make us feel like we have no time to cook anything. While I often feel that same way, I have discovered multiple meals that are quick and easy to make. Over these next few weeks, I look forward to sharing the meals I make and the experiences I have while making them.      Something important to note about me and my cooking habits is that I am a type 1 diabetic. Essentially this just means classic college meals, like ramen noodles or an oven baked pizza, just wont work for me. My meals will consist of some alternative foods, which you could always switch out, and will generally be lower carb.     This weeks meal is a classic staple meal in the lives of many college students: a chicken rice veggie bowl. This is a great meal that is quick and filling. It is a...
